Weekly Recap- 12/26

Congrats to our Athlete of the Week - Ty Mishock '24

Our Freshman Basketball team continue their hot start to the season. On December 20th, they played Academy Park and won 53-18. Devon prep held their opponent to just under 20 points as they cruised to their 6th win on the season while teaming undefeated.  Collective efforts from the entire team allowed Devon to put the game away early.  Led by Braeden Fisher’s team high of 10 points. On December 22nd they traveled to Rutgers Prep and won 64-23. The Tide freshman team had multiple guys step up on both sides of the floor.  Eric White Jr. ‘26 and Jayden Allan Bates ‘26 led the way with a combined 26 points. The JV Basketball also traveled to Rutgers Prep and fought very hard but came up just short- 53-50. The JV team fell to Rutgers Prep 53-50. The team nearly overcame a 10 point deficit entering the 4th quarter but unfortunately ran out of gas. They were led in scoring by Greg Perullo ‘24 and Zach Orchard ‘24 who both were in double figures. The varsity Basketball team also went up to Rutgers and won a hard fought game- 74-70. In a game that absolutely had the feel of a PCL game, the team adjusted to the physical play and made enough winning basketball plays to defeat a very talented Rutgers Prep team. The team was led in scoring by Lucas Orchard and Jacen Holloway. Junior Ty Mishock set a career high in assists in a game with 10. He also took a game winning charge in the last seconds of the game. The tide of the game changed though when Shane Doyle '25 and Tyler Scarpulla '23 stepped up on the defensive end and locked down the other teams top two players. The team is back in action this week in the Reading Christmas Tournament. 

Swimming

The Devon Prep Tide swimming team had a swimming meet at Lansdale YMCA, last week as well, where they swam against Archbishop Carroll and Cardinal O’Hara. The boys all competed in each of their respective events and swam well as a team while matching up with some strong PCL opponents. Giovanni Notaro ‘25 competed in the 200 Free and the 50 free (26.96). Reagan Megow ‘23 competed in the 50 free (28.05) and the 100 breast (1:18.33). Gavin Smith ‘23 competed in the 200 IM (2:31.80) and 100 free. James Simpson ‘24 competed in the 100 fly and the 100 back (1:27.50).
