Tide Falls in Tough Matchup Versus Archbishop Ryan

Devon Prep varsity baseball traveled to Archbishop Ryan High School, challenging the Raiders on their home field.Fighting hard through six innings, the tide led Ryan 3-2 entering the seventh. Loading the bases with one out, Devon Prep was cut down at home trying to extend their lead. Ryan came back in the bottom of the seventh to capture the win over Devon Prep 4-3. The JV team was at home, taking on Archbishop Ryan as well. The offense got out to a hot start, leading Ryan 5-1 after the first. The Tide did not slow down as they collected eight more runs in the contest, defeating Ryan 13-1 after five innings of play. In a middle school matchup. The Tide delivered an impressive bounce-back performance today with a dominant 16–1 victory over St. Katharine’s. John Malloy led the way on the mound, throwing his second consecutive no-hitter—an outstanding achievement. Devon Prep Shines in Philadelphia Catholic League Meet

Wyndmoor, PA| Devon Prep Varsity Track & Field Traveled to La Salle College High School for a Philadelphia Catholic League Meet.The Tide excelled, having multiple personal bests across various events. Logan Dunkle took 2nd place in the Javelin, with a personal best 134-07 (41.02 meters). Followed by his teammates Evan Young 112-00 (34.13 meters), Trip McGowan 94-02 (28.70 meters), and Willem Dekker 84-06 (25.75 meters), all logging personal bests as well. Dekker also set a personal best in the discus with 57-00 (17.73 meters). Charlie Kliener took second in the triple jump, 39-02.00 (11.93 meters). Arie Van Turnhout took third in the 800-meter, setting a personal best of 2:07.35.Julian DiGiorgio set personal bests in both the 100m (15.69) and 200m (32.05). More results: HEREStay tuned, Track & Field will be back at La Salle College on Monday, April 20th at 3:30 PM.

Baseball Bounces Back with Win Versus Cardinal O'Hara

Devon, PA| Devon Prep Varsity Baseball Welcomed Cardinal O'Hara to the Devon Campus for a Philadelphia Catholic League Matchup. John Doogan got the start for the Tide as they set off against the Lions.After some trouble in the first, Doogan settled in at Devon Prep. Striking out six in five innings pitched, he also recorded no walks on the day. The Tide's offense got off to a hot start, responding for Doogan. Tallying three runs in the first, and scoring in the three following innings to build their lead over the Lions 7-3. Junior William Degler came in to close the game for the Tide. Working a ground ball back to himself to end the game with the bases loaded as the Tide defeated the Lions 7-5. Alexander Hannah led the Tide's offense with two doubles on the day. Lansdale, PA| Devon Prep Varsity Tennis Traveled to Lansdale Catholic, Taking on the Crusaders on their Home Court.Gustav Najdek, Darian Williams, and Andrew Schuenemann got the job done for Devon in singles play. Dominating their way to three points for the Tide. Will Shank and Brayden Smith worked well as a pair, defeating the Crusaders one slot in doubles. Followed by another point from Pat Manion and Charles Ranieri en route to the sweep. Tennis will be back in action Thursday, traveling to Roman Catholic to take on the Cahillite on their home court at 4:00 PM.

Strong Showing from Crew at Manny Flick #4

The Devon Prep Crew traveled to the Schuylkill River to compete in Manny Flick event #4. ResultsIn the Freshman 2X at 9:15 a.m. Freddy Tucker and Will Ferraro took first place.  In the Freshmen 8 at 10:00 a.m. (Bratteson/Stauffer/Daniel/Carroll/Gallagher/McGinley/Roccio/Ries/Martin) took second place.  In the Varsity 2X at 12:15 p.m. Andrew Rockich and Teddy Marvin took fifth place. In the Varsity 4x at 1:05 p.m., Brendan Cuff, Zaven Saveg, Cameron Sacunas, and Jason Bushra took first place.  “Good improvements across the board.  Two wins and a second in our races exceeded expectations. The varsity double was moved up into a tougher heat after their win at the last race and struggled against that competition.” - Coach Tom Marvin on the team's performance this weekend.

Devon Prep Track & Field traveled to La Salle College High School on Saturday, April 13th, to challenge Central Bucks East, Cherokee, La Salle College, Lower Merion, North Penn, and Saint Joseph's Prep. Starting with the 100-meter, Easton Yeager clocked 14.52. Followed by a personal best from Julian DiGiogio with 15.93. He also excelled in the 200-meter for a personal best of 32.68.In the 400 meters, Blake Hostetter led the way for Devon, clocking 55.46. Followed by another personal best with 57.49 from Prusad Nunez. Personal bests were the story of the 800-meter. Arie Can Turnhout led the way with a 2:09.94, followed by teammates AJ Adams (2:34.26) and Conor Whomsley (3:13). In the throwing events, Logan Dunkle took third place with a personal best in the Javelin 131-00 (39.92 meters). Varsity Lacrosse Dominates in Victory Against Conwell Egan

Devon Prep Varsity Lacrosse got out to a hot start in the first quarter, scoring four, mounting an early lead over the Eagles. They did not look back, scoring three more in the second to take a seven-goal lead entering the half. Egan paced the tide the rest of the way, as Devon got back into the win column with an 11-4 victory.Riley Brennan and Gran Napoletano each tallied six saves in net, while Andrew Murray led the way in faceoffs, winning five of seven attempts.Declan Sullivan added to his goal record, with six in the game, along with two assists.Gavin Scraegle, Jack Newhard, and Henry Grayo each caused two turnovers apiece for the Tide.Devon will be back in action on Wednesday, April 15, when the team takes on La Salle College High School on the road. Devon Prep varsity tennis fought hard in matches versus the Explorers of La Salle College, falling 2-3. Gustav Najdek dominated in his match, winning sets 6-2 and 6-0 en route to a 2-0 victory. Devon Prep Varsity Baseball traveled to Archbishop Wood, battling the Vikings on their home field.How it Happened:#13 Liam Jung got the start for the Tide as they took off in their Catholic League matchup versus the Archbishop Wood Vikings. Jung got through the first two innings clean, but soft contact hits fell for the Vikings, scoring two runs in the third. #19 Caleb Tesfaye came in for the Tide in the fourth with the bases loaded and nobody out. He did a phenomenal job trusting his defense behind him to make the right plays. Limiting the damage to one, Devon trailed 0-3 after the fourth inning. The Devon offense got on the board in the sixth inning, as Austin Conaty led off with a double to left. Christian Leckman came through for the Tide, scoring Conaty on a RBI single to right field. ​Declan Sullivan is the new All-Time Leader in Goals for Devon Lacrosse with 173. The Tide welcomed the Lions of Cardinal O’Hara to their home turf, as Devon looked to get into the win column.​Both teams came out with intensity from the jump, as a high-scoring first quarter put the Tide down early 2-3. Both defenses tightened up in the second, as Devon trailed O’Hara 2-3 at the half.In the third quarter, the Hawks scored three on the Devon defense, putting them in a hole entering the fourth. Trailing 2-6, the Tide climbed themselves out, scoring two goals in two minutes. Trailing by two, and four minutes remaining, the Tide continued to fight. Varsity Tennis Falls in Catholic League Matchup Versus St. Joseph's Prep

Coach Starczewski and Devon Prep welcomed St. Joseph’s Prep to the Main Line YMCA for a Catholic League matchup between the Tide and Hawks.​How it Happened:​Gustav Najdek played one slot singles for the Tide, as he played a competitive first and second set, but was ultimately defeated by the Hawks one.​Darian Williams took the two slot, battling in his first two sets, but he fell to the Hawks two.​Rounding off singles for Devon was Andrew Schuenemann, who was defeated by the Hawks' #3.​In the doubles matchups, Will Shank and Patrick Manion fell to the Hawks' number ones. Brayden Smith and Jack Planchak battled in the two slot for Devon but were defeated as the Tide lost to the Hawks 0-5.​What’s Next?​Devon Prep will be back in action at home, taking on La Salle College. Matches are scheduled to start at 3:45 PM.
