Weekly Recap 10/2 and Winter Sports Information

Congrats to Ryan Lewis, our Athlete of the week.

Congrats to our MS Soccer team on a great week! On September 26th, the team had a hard fought 1-1 tie with neighboring rivals, St. Aloysius. With several opportunities to take the lead in the 2nd half, the Tide came up short to take the dub. They will have the chance to rebound off this result in their game Wednesday against St. Max. Goal was provided by Gustav Najdek ‘27.  On September 28th, the MS team traveled to St. Max and won 4-2. The team was able to string together a couple late second half goals to beat St. Max this evening with the score of 4-2. Goals were provided by Nico Del Prim ‘27 (2), Gustav Najdek ‘27, and Prasad Nunez ‘28.

Our varsity team traveled to Conwell Egan on Tuesday and lost 7-0. Although the score didn’t reflect it, we had a standout performance by Braeden Fisher ‘26 today. We will continue working hard to have a better ending to the season. On September 30th, our varsity team played Wood and lost 4-0. Overall the team played well today but, we had moments where we slack and Wood being a good team punished us in those moments. We will learn from it and be ready for Tuesday game. Our JV teams played Egan on Tuesday and Lost 7-0.

Golf

Our golf team played HGP on September 27th and won 188-208 The scores were (par 34): Ciocca 36, Curran 36, Urban 38, DiLella 39, Pullano 39, Duffy 41, **Carroccio 43** (Didn’t play in match), Lewis 44, Dente 44, **Barry 50** (Didn’t play in match). The round of the day was shot by Chris Pullano '26: Pullano scores the round of the day with a 39 in the second match that his round has counted on the season. The shot of the day was shot by Curran who had a second shot into the par 5-9th hole earlier this year, from the same left side rough and blocked it OB right. Today he setup for a shot, committed to his line, and pulled off the shot! He hit the green in two and had an easy tap-in birdie. Congratulations to the  team on such a successful season (to this point). We had 6 players finish in the top 64 of the PCLs this year. Check out our top golfers below and a note from Coach Ball for each of them!

1. Nick Ciocca—placed 1st overall. Huge congrats, Nick. You moved up one spot from your 2nd place finish last year. Your approach to the game really sets the tone for our guys and your steady approach helps everyone. Great job!

2. John Curran—placed 4th overall. In just your first season you are already in the Top 15 of PCL. Not bad at all, and it’s a testament to the amount of work you put into your game. Great job as a new member of the team this year! I’m looking forward to your post-season performance.

3. Dan DiLella—placed 12th overall. Another Top 15 golfer coming out of Devon Prep. It’s crazy to think you started playing just a couple of years ago, and now you’re on the All PCL top 15! You should be proud of the work you’ve put into this season. You’re only scratching the surface of your best game. We’re happy to have you at DP!

4. Kidder Urban—placed 14th overall. Kidder, you’ve climbed the ranks every year since I’ve been coaching and it has been fun to watch you improve your game up. Thanks for being a leader on the team, let’s keep the momentum going into the post-season.

5. Jack Dente—49th overall. Jack, this is your first year contributing in every match and you’ve counted in nearly every one of them. Your mental game has improved a lot, and you’re a leader on and off the course for us. Let’s see what you can do this post-season! Great job!

6. PJ Duffy—59th overall. PJ, you might have shown the most growth of all the guys on this list. You have attacked each year with a willingness to work hard and do whatever it takes to help this team achieve more. I’m proud of the golfer you’ve become, but even prouder of the young man you are this year. Thanks for helping lead this team!

Good luck to the golf team this week in the PCL Championships.

Our crew and cross country teams are back in action this week as well.

As hard as this is to believe, we are only 6 weeks away from winter sports. Check out the link below with information about winter sports.
