Philadelphia, PA| Crew Competed in the City Championships over the Weekend, Hosted by the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association.
During day one, Devon Prep raced in six events. Five of the six boats qualified for the final races on Sunday!
Saturdays' Races and Times:
Freshman 8+ (Martin, cox/Bratteson/Stauffer/Daniel/McGinley/Gallagher/Carroll/Roccio/Ries) 5th place, 5:07.88 Qualified.
Freshman 2X (Tucker/Ferraro) 4th place, 6:02.71 Qualified.
JV 2X (Rockich/Placido) 11th place, 5:47.03 Qualified.
JV 4X (Parenteau/Epperson/Masciantonio/Vaughn) 7th place, 5:18.86, unfortunately did not qualify.
Lightweight 2X (Vickers/Marvin) 5th place, 5:39.71 Qualified.
Varsity 4X (Cuff/Sevag/Sacunas/Bushra) 5th place, 5:02.11 Qualified.
On the second day, the Tide continued to impress. Freddy Tucker and Wil Ferraro finished in third place, taking home bronze for the first time in Devon Prep history.
Sunday Races and Times:
Andrew Rockich and Levon Placido led off the day with sixth place in the Junior Varsity 2X Semi-finals with a time of 6:09.33.
Evan Martin; cox, Joey Bratteson, Andrew Stauffer, Brain Daniel, John Paul McGinely, Gabriel Gallagher, Carroll, Sanitino Roccio, and Anthony Ries took on the Freshman 8+, finished fifth with a time of 4:58.37.
Freddy Tucker and Wil Ferraro finished third place in the Freshman 2X, taking home bronze with a time of 6:09.33.
David Vickers and Teddy Marvin took fifth place in the lightweight race, with a time of 6:04.36.
Brendan Cuff, Zaven Sevag, Cameron Sacunas, and Jason Bushra rounded off the day for Devon Prep in the Varsity 4X, finishing with a time of 5:17.66 for fifth place.
The Tide will be back on the river for their final event of the year, May 15th, for the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, the world's largest rowing regatta. Stay tuned for more information.
